Greatness is Serving by Pastor Bob Tiwa and Pastor Mbaaga Joseph.
Serving God is a common word, yes I agree, but it has a lot of unknown blessings and meanings. Am delighted today to share with you the hidden meanings and blessings of serving God.
Little is known about how to serve God, when to serve Him, and where to serve our creator. What we all grew up knowing was that; serving God only meant preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, ushering in Church among other church related activities, yes it means that but also beyond that.
I will first share with you a brief spiritual meaning of serving God; in addition to doing church ministry work, serving God is doing the will of God, whenever you do what God created you to do, you are serving God. whether you are doing it for your church, your neighbors, your family, your company, your community, your country etc, you are serving God.
I have traced serving God as far as right from the creation of the World, when God created the World and all in it and commanded Adam and Eva to have dominion over all creation, Genesis 1:26.
God served us by creating for us all that we need in life to live and He also freely gave it all to us, leaving nothing for himself. That means that; in service, we ought to deprive ourselves of things which belongs to us and freely give them out to others, even when they are as Good as God's creation.
God demanded us to serve Him in this same creation story by taking care of what he had created, as His ambassadors and representatives. I see here a strong link between God and man when it comes to service. literally, I interprete it as doing the Work of God, doing what God would be doing if He was present there with you.
Looking into the prophecy, birth, and life of our Lord Jesus Christ, we can also trace how far He was called to serve and not to be served as written in Mathew 20:28; "(Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many).”
His calling to serve was revealed from heaven to prophets like Isaiah, thousands of years before he was born and when He was born, He became a Ransome for many. He deprived himself of life for our salvation as a service to us and His father, who is God in Heaven.
Similarly, your calling to Serve God also has a far beginning, right from the time before you were even born. From the day you were conceived in your mother's womb, you were called to serve.
Depending on the purpose for which God wanted you to complete, He gave you an identity, this identity can be seen in the region you were born, the gender you are, the race, proffesion, among others.
Other people were created to be mother's, baring children, others husbands and fathers, others social workers, prophets, Engineers among others. That is why it is written; “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5. Therefore, your calling to serve in whatever you are doing today originated in heaven not on Earth, so do it well.
At on moment, the Lord spoke to Rebecca, the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob and Esau, when she was wondering why her two children where fighting in her womb, God said that; “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.” - Genesis 25:23. See how much God planned your service to some one there while your still in your mother's womb.
Serving God should not be limited by your age, gender, race nor geographical Location. The older can serve the younger as it was mentioned to Esau and Jacob as whereas the younger can serve the older.
Its an opportunity to live somewhere with a need to serve God, yet every where in the world, there is need to serve. meaning we are all blessed to serve. whenever you do well what you are doing, you are serving God, so do it well to receive a blessing given to God's servants.
We some times think your job is not God's work, actually what you call your job is God's call for you to complete, when you do it well, He will keep you high, promote you using His other servants called your managers and when you do not do it well, He will fire you or demote you.
Always use your position, whether employment, family, political or financial to serve God. God has lifted you high, above others to enable you serve him better. Those who are called to serve God are first empowered by God Himself to enable them to reach as many people as they can using God given potential.
Your current position at work, ministry, company etc is your pulpit of service to God, do not defile it. The more you serve, the greater you will become, for its written; "Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant". - Matthew 20:26.
You do not need much to serve God, you only need the Holy spirit of God to enable you serve Him. Jesus Christ will baptize you with the Holy spirit when you accept him. Mathew 3:11.
